Street Sounds Academy Beginner course

Students aged 8 - 18

The Beginners Course is an introduction to DJing and radio Presenting. Groups have 5 students.

An ideal way of rewarding staff with suitably aged children / young adults.

Students are welcomed into the DJ Superstore & shown to the classroom & DJ equipment area, later we take them on a tour of the Street Sounds Radio studios, situated in the same building where they are shown the principles of radio Presenter broadcasting. Students are given an overview of a radio station equipment and the computer playout system (Myriad).

No prior DJing/Presenter, or music knowledge is required.
The course comprises of two four-hour lessons. Total eight hours.
All equipment is provided.
Small Classes comprised of four or five students. One-to-one tuition is available on request.

How to use industry standard DJ equipment.
What types of equipment are available and the 3 main formats.
The similarities and differences between club and mobile DJs.
How to download and organize music for DJ performance.
Beat matching skills, mixing in time and use EQ.
Recording a set.
What is a Radio presenter? also the similarities and differences between Club, Mobile DJs and radio presenters helping to solidify previous learning by recapping on the first day’s training.
Different types of broadcasting platforms and formats.
Broadcasting equipment.
Equipment to perform with.
Creating content for radio.
Prerecording.
Interviewing.
Basic Soundwave and light wave Physics (FM & AM, electromagnetic wavelength).
DAB Multiplexing.
Internet Broadcasting.
APP Based Broadcasting.

On successful completion of the course, students will be presented with a Certificate of Completion.
